Portage Lake is a clean water lake that is 9,640 acres in size. There is channel access to Lake Superior through the north and south entries as well as access to Torch Lake to the east. Our lakefront has no drop offs. The water starts shallow and gradually gets deeper.
Our shoreline has a large dock, small sandy beach (when the water level is down) and a fire pit where you are welcome to start (and put out) your own campfire. There is deep water anchorage available, should you choose to bring a boat.
All motorized water vehicles are allowed on the lake, as well as non-motorized. We provide a paddle boat and kayaks to use at no cost to our customers. And there are 2 resorts nearby that provide boat rentals if you are interested. If fishing is your forte, anglers can expect to catch a variety of fish including Black Crappie, Lake Sturgeon, Northern Pike, Rainbow Trout, Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Sunfish, Walleye and Yellow Perch.

We are a family friendly resort that is great for all ages. There are picnic tables, gas grills and lots of lawn area to relax and enjoy each others company. A non-motorized bike/running path that follows along the lake from Houghton to Chassell, runs right through our property. There is a staircase leading to our lakefront with hand rails on both sides for stability.
We have a "live well" to hold your fish until you are ready to clean them which is located next to the fish cleaning station that is equipped with running water and electricity.
We accept cash, checks and credit cards. Because we are a small family owned business, starting July 1, 2018, we will start charging a 3% processing fee if you choose to use a credit card for payment.
